“I hated poverty, Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, I change that (poverty), it depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided to change it.”

Ben Carson

Reflection: Unfortunately everyone’s choices lead them up to either being rich or being poor. For some kids it is not whether they want to be poor or not they have to because of their parents financial issues and what not. I agree with this quote because we all come from a certain satiation that caused us to either be poor or have a good life.
Eastern Medicine Doctor
Duties & Responsibilities:  encompasses how the human body interacts with all aspects of life and the environment, including the seasons, weather, time of day, our diet and emotional states. It sees the key to health as the harmonious and balanced functioning of body, mind and spirit, and holds that the balance of health depends on the unobstructed flow of qi (pronounced chee) or "life energy" through the body, along pathways known as meridians. TCM practitioners see disease as the result of disruptions in the circulation of qi.
Salary: $58,958
Education: New students can apply directly to this program, or can take it as a 1-year post-graduate program upon completion of the Diploma of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine or a 2-year post-graduate program upon completion of the Diploma of Acupuncture

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to be an eastern medicine doctor. The job seems boring and its weird. The job also did not really catch my attention.

“Never, because you can’t be right by doing wrong; you can’t be wrong by doing right.”

Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: Naturally someone can’t feel right by doing bad actions. As a human you can feel the guilt and just that feeling knowing you did wrong. On the other hand if you end up doing something that is right you end up feeling good and you don’t’ have  bad feelings about what  you have done.

“Enthusiasm makes the difference.”

Norman Vincent Peale

Reflection: Being a positive and enthusiastic person is always key to having a good life. Being in a good mood and enthusiastic always makes you more approachable and social. On the other hand if you’re the opposite you’ll only have negativity to dwell on.

“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy; I was trying to do what was right.”
Dean Smith

Reflection: Playing by the rules and always keeping it 100% is something individuals will thank you for greatly in a general sense. Always doing what is right and playing by what rules have been established is something genuine and hard to find now in days. Someone like Dean Smith is someone people should definitely look up to more because he changed Basketball in many ways.
Tattoo Artist
Duties & Responsibilities: Using needles and pigments, a tattoo artist applies a permanent design directly to a client's body, injecting ink under a layer of skin.
Salary: $31121
Education: tattoo artists earn a license based on completion of a training program and passing an exam that measures their ability to understand and follow formally established health and safety protocols, not their creative ability in designing or applying body art.

Reflection: Being a tattoo artist sounds like something that’s fun. Doing that as a full time job sounds time consuming and it might be something ill like to do as a side job. Since there are no required skills to know how to draw I might take that chance.

“It’s not about how to achieve your dreams. It’s about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.”
Dr. Randy Pausch

Reflection: Guiding yourself in the right way makes way for a bright future. If you’re doing everything you’re supposed to be doing in school and living a moral life then later on you’ll be paid back for your righteousness. Everything you do right now as a teen reflects on the type of life you will have and I believe greatly in karma. Everything always comes back and bites you in the butt.

During my 3 weeks off of school I really did not do much. On Christmas I turned seventeen and celebrated it with my family and my loved ones. I also spent new years with my boyfriend and his family so that was different. My cousin ended up getting arrested and is currently in jail which makes me sad a lot because he’s going to be missed and everything happened so fast in a blink of an eye. I definitely had a crazy three weeks off with my friends and family. I saw my cousin Rubi during the break and it was amazing. I also got my piercings done so that was fun. I am also currently engaged with my future husband and current boyfriend so that was the icing on top to 2014.

Student Success Statement
“Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Reflection: In life someone that is not willing to learn or put passion into some sort of educational subject will never have the passion for learning. It is very important to be educated now in days for the sake of your future and wellbeing. Its very important to show love, ambition, and character for what you want to major in and sacrifice time for your future.

Reflection: Being a registered dietitian doesn’t seem like a job I wouldn’t want to do. If I can’t maintain a healthy lifestyle why should I give my advice to someone knowing I’m not doing half the things I’m explaining. For some people this job may work but its not my cup of tea.
