Student Success Statement
“Our very business in life is not to get ahead of other… but to get ahead of ourselves.”
Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: This quote by Thomas S. Monson is something I agree with one hundred percent. Things in life should not be about being competitive but doing it for you and knowing that you’ll be getting ahead of others faster. It’s always good to be mindful of others and not trying to do everything better than other people.
Allopathic Physician (M.D.)

Salary: $93,000
Education: 4 years of medical school, and 3-8 years of internship and residency

Reflection: I don’t think I would want to be an allopathic physician. The job seems to boring and studying medicine is not in my favor at all. They make a good salary but I know I could probably find a better job that doesn’t have to be in the medical field.

By Elvis Presley
If I could be you, if you could be me
For just one hour, if we could find a way
To get inside each other’s mind
If you could see you through my eyes
Instead your own ego
I believe you’d be
I believe you’d be surprised to see
That you’ve been blind
Walk a mile in my shoes
Just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes
Now if we spend the day
Throwin’ stones at one another
‘Cause I will think, ‘cause I will think
To wear my hat the same way you do
Well, I may be common people
But I’m your brother
And when you strike out
You’re tryin’ to hurt me
It’s hurtin’ you, Lord how mercy
Now there are people on reservations’
And out in the ghetto
And whether they’re for the grace of god
Or you and I,
If I only had wings of a little angel
Don’t you know, I’d fly
To the top of the mountain
And then I’d cry, cry, cry

Reflection: The poem and Elvis Presley’s song are very positive. They actually have a very important meaning to it. I Also completely agree with what they both state. We all judge we all do stuff we shouldn’t do, but we all learn out of it and try to better ourselves.

“True wealth is of the heart, not of the purse”
Og Mandino

Reflection: This quote is very heart warming and creative. This quote actually speaks of a very important topic. Now in days people actually believe that having the most expensive materialistic things in life actually mean something and it doesn’t. This quote actually reminds me that no matter what I do in life to stay humble and not act like something I’m not. Also to not forget where I come from and the struggles I have as in right now.

“Real wealth is not so much what we have as what we are.”

Sterling W. Sill

Reflection: This statement by Sterling W. Sill is very positive. This quote actually means something very important and kind of makes me think of life and what I take for granted. I completely agree with this quote I think people should apply it in their daily lives and go with it. This Is a perfect example of how people should live life and not worry about the materialistic things in life that are basically irrelevant and not making them successful.

Reflection: Being an acupuncturist is something I would not like to do in life. I really hate needles and the whole concept of them. I know I can do better than becoming an acupuncturist, and I can find a better job I suppose. This particular job never has gotten my attention in general and it seems too dull for me.

The human anatomy is nothing I would want to expand my knowledge on because it just does not interest me generally. Other than that, the salary is pretty good but I have other goals in life I want to achieve.

Reflection

My first week here at hpiam has been good but kind of a blur at the same time. I'm currently a junior and its currently hectic not only because i need to adjust to a new environment, but because i feel like i need to start all over again. I miss my old high school and everyone over there but change is good and its always better to stick to positivity and make the best out of everything. Theres nothing i can't say to complaint about my first week here but all i can do is adjust and start forming new friendships with the students and teachers and quit being so shy and quiet. Hopefully i meet the requirements they have here and adapt to my new classes other than that i wish the best of luck to me and all the students here.

“Education is the latchkey to success in life.”
Gordon B. Hinckley

Reflection: This quote actually gives a positive vibe. I think it’s a good statement to have for positivity and determination in education. Obviously to have a great life you need to be educated and I think this works to push someone to do good and achieve educational goals.
Ophthalmologist
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ophthalmologists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceuticals and corrective eyeglass lenses. When necessary, they perform eye surgery. Most ophthalmologists are in private practice, however some are employed by hospitals or clinics, and others perform research.

Educational Requirements:
Only physicians may study to become ophthalmologist. After completing medical school and internship, an ophthalmologist must than complete a three to five year residency in an approved ophthalmology program. After completing their residency program they must pass an examination to be certified.

Reflection:  I honestly don’t think being an ophthalmologist will be something I’d like. The human eye does not interest me a lot and I know I will get bored of it. I also think that to become an ophthalmologist it takes too much time and time is something I cannot manage so I’d stick to something a little less complex because I’m also aware of my abilities and the human eye is not for me.
